Handy Stephy

I should rephrase that, adventures of Handy Stephy.

I like to think I am somewhat handy. I did take several mechanic (ag) classes in college and high school. So I decided I would start to tackle the kids bathroom. Right now it is plain white & boring.

So we started with a search for the inspiration otherwise known as a shower curtain that will work for kids but not have doggies or fishies on it. Plus this curtain has to have some neutral colors in it for paint reasons. So I found the one I wanted and wouldn't you know it was out of stock and that was their final answer. Plan B a geometric pattern with green, brown & tan. Not very girly but I like it. I got myself a couple of bath mats to match in a nice chocolaty brown.

Next stop Costco. I though I have found faucets and light fixtures here before maybe today we will too. No luck. But I got some towels I thought would work. They don't I will have to return them.

Next stop Lowes. I got a faucet, which by the way I had forgotten how stinkin expensive faucets were. I have Moen's everywhere else in the house so I got a clearance Moen to go with them. Paint & supplies were added to the cart as well as a new light fixture with bulbs.

Get home play with the kids for awhile. I am just itching to get working. Hannah falls asleep while playing on her tummy. James and I get our chance to get to work. James is a loyal helper. He will hand you the screwdriver 15 times when you don't need it then when you ask for the screw driver he looks at you with a blank look. Plus when you are laying half in the the vanity trying to install your faucet you get tummy raspberries.

Well I was very proud of my self. I took off the old faucet, installed the new one with out a hitch. I am hooking up the water and its starts to all fall apart. I had in my head the whole scene of Jerry coming home on Monday and seeing that I had installed the faucet, the light and painted. He would have been so proud. I broke the hose if you can call it that. That goes from the house to the faucet so the water is turned off at that valve now. Well now I need to go back to lowes to get those parts. So I start in on the light fixture. I take it all apart and convince myself I will not get shocked doing so. Only to discover a complete mess under the fixture. I actually knew there would be a hole from the fixture that we had removed downstairs. But this one was a joke. They had a hole where this gigantic screw was bolted to one of those spring things that works in dry wall but it wasn't attached to anything and was just freely spinning around. It took me forever to get undone. Then there is the huge hole that I am not sure what happened there but apparently any one can be a laborer for these track builders no skill must be needed. Well my pride keeps driving me to move ahead. Hannah wakes up and we head back to Lowes. I decide to call Jerry to double check that he doesn't want a few of these little chores done in a very specific way. He was like, "I will take care of it when I get home". But, I wanted to do it. Then he tells me I have to turn the water off to the house replace the valve, that its tricky to find the right valve and so on. So I am discouraged now but for some strange reason he sounds excited that I created this project for him. After working 72hrs I bet it will be a different song on Monday. He tells me I can fix the holes and paint, though. Both jobs he doesn't like. So I guess that's what I will focus my handy stephy skills on.

By the way the pile of clothes is still on the couches downstairs. I have to get those put away before he gets home.

I am so impressed! Plummer and electrician. Randy doesn't like it when I even hang pictures without him. xoxo
