Two events have changed our little lives.
1. Jerry getting hurt
2. Putting the house on the market
I swear I hit the ground running every morning. Making beds doing laundry etc. No big deal for people who are good at that stuff. I used to take it easy and do a few chores every day. Now I try to do all the chores every day. Whats really weird is that I clean at night after the kids go to bed and I clean first thing in the morning while they are still happy. So who is getting my house messy during the night?
The other thing is now it all seems to go to chaos in bunches. For example, James was taking his sweet time going potty, so I left him alone. Jerry needed to go to the bathroom so he goes where James is playing with the toilet brush set. Serious grossness! I am cleaning up this mess Jerry goes upstairs to the other bathroom. Then Hannah is opening the fireplace and taking all the candles out. Lou hops in the fireplace and is now covered in ash. Jerry is yelling for TP. So I move Hannah run upstairs get TP for him. Drag James kicking and screaming back downstairs. I go back to cleaning mess #1. Jerry comes down the stairs and says "Oh! Hannah" I run around the corner to see, that I moved her to the couch by herself. A very logical spot for a little one. Messes get cleaned up and there is calm again. For now. And this is just one example.
The other thing is now, every night, I have to get the kids ready for bed by myself. Bedtime can be an exhausting end to a day when I am by myself. When Jerry would be home this used to be a fun time for our family. So we have adapted to reading our stories in the hospital bed downstairs after baths a compromise. New and different but it works.
I think in this period in our lives it will be one new adjustment day after day.
