Last Minute Trip

So Jerry's family was all going to Disney Land and we were not planning on going.  But plans change.  We decided on Friday that we would go to Disney Land with them on Monday.  It was an action packed day.  The kids had a ton on fun.  It was worth it.  We are all beyond tired today.  Got home last night about midnight.  James has minimum schedule this week. So instead of 11 - 2:30 its 7:45 - 11. Throws the whole week off.  But we are rolling with it.

Every once in awhile I let go, and fly by the seat of my pants.  It's harder to do doing the school year. But now we are good with Disney for a couple of years again. Or at least until Caroline understands standing in line.

Weekend Warrior

I have never looked froward to a weekend like this since I worked.  I have to say last week was one of the  busiest weeks I have had in a long time.  So what do we do over the weekend? Paint Hannah's room and move Caroline in.
Lots of girl power pink in here.  James declared he wasn't playing barbies with Hannah anymore in this room.

I still have to get around to painting the kitchen set white.  Dragging my heels on that project.

Yes the closet is purple and I love the color.  All organized and put together.  Let's see how long it lasts.

Hopefully there won't be any climbing in drawers to get down stuffed animals.

cupcake

Friday James turns 4. How did this happen?

Today he has preschool, his teacher encourages us to celebrate for the kids. I made and decorated cupcakes for his class. As an afterthought I remembered to check the box for soy & nuts. We have an allergy in class. Cupcake mix contains soy and is made on equipment shared with nuts. Now what?

Maybe this student will be absent today.

When I taught the students couldn't bring anything homemade to school.

The times they are a changing.

not exactly

James is learning sign language in preschool. Its fun and cute and sometimes he surprises me with things. Like today, he was flipping me the bird and telling me it was the letter F. Me wishing I could remember the letter F was telling him, no, not quite that.

"who taught you that?"

James cracking up, "Miss Holly."

"I don't think so"

James is in hysterics now. And I am wondering which kid in his class taught him that, or if simply enough he is just confused.

The real letter F.

goody two shoes

I am a rule follower and occasionally I even tattle tale. So go ahead and call me a good two shoes now.

At the preschool my kids are at I work in Hannah's classroom with two other parents. One is a easy going mom the other is a very interesting dad. He talks our ears off about all sorts of things that have little to no relevance to us. But he is friendly enough and does his job. He is one of those guys who likes to think of himself as tough, even cool, I think it goes along with being a prison guard. He even refers to himself as a clean freak, says that raking the sand is enough for him to want a cigarette. Whatever.

So two weeks ago when we worked together. I thought he looked like he was chewing tobacco. Gross enough to do at home but around the kids? Please. Then a little later he actually takes out his can and puts another dip in right in front of me. So after school little miss goody two shoes tell the president, who tells the director and they decide to put a reminder in the bulletin its against state law to have tobacco on a school campus. Duh. Well Hannah's teacher who has know this guy for a long time decided to talk to him about it.

This week when we worked together. He wouldn't talk to us, or even look at us. He sat in the room while we were prepping for class with his sunglasses on playing with his cell phone with an angry look on his face. I started to think something is up. After I went home I decided that when I went back to school I was going to tell him I basically told on him about the tobacco but that he should know better. I got all ready to talk to him today, but he wasn't there. I asked the president "did you guys mention the tobacco thing to "bob", because the was acting totally weird?" She told me how the chain of events happened to lead their family to quiting over the whole thing.

Part of me felt guilty. The other part thinks we are better off with out this guy around. If you are not intelligent enough to know better than to chew tobacco at a preschool, you are not ready to help teach children.

First day of Preschool

Have my kids actually gotten this big?

We went to preschool for the first time today. We loved it. Today was my first day working as a parent there. I also am the room representative so this means I have to coordinate the snack schedule. So I brought snack in today to make it easier.
This morning was a bit rushed as we had to be there by 8:40 and I didn't know exactly with morning traffic how long it would take.
We got there and settled in. Today I worked in James' class, next Tuesday it will be Hannah's. So I almost teared up as I watch my little peanut line up for her class and go in. By the way she is the smallest kid in her class. There are 2 younger than her but she is way shorter than everybody else.
Every body did well and had fun. I was the lame parent who didn't bring a camera to capture every moment of preschool, but I did take this picture this morning. Some parents even had out the video cameras. I kind of wanted to ask some moms to email me a few of their pictures.
Funny story about snack time. I brought cheese, pineapple and grape juice. The director was coming around during snack time and she asked "do we like our snack?" One little boy said "yes, they even gave us some wine." Another boy chimed in saying his daddy drinks beer and I just held my breath to see what James would say. He blissfully just ate his cheese and stayed quiet.
My kids were exhausted as was I so we all had naps when we got home. I am still getting up at 6:00 to take Chip running, so I needed one too.
